Apke possesses an excellent understanding of the mechanisms and techniques of comedy, a fantastic ability to construct situations, and frequently employs the conventions of classical farce, but in his own unique way. He observes closely, his characters possess a certain lyrical quality, and he shows us the masks we wear daily to survive—to survive on the surface, but also tells of the longings, dreams, and fears that lie hidden beneath them, unwilling to see the light of day. His plays always contain multiple such layers of meaning—on which the comedy always works perfectly.
