ACTION
In the first one-act play of the evening, Mr. Gieseking has a decidedly unconventional plan: He applies for a position on an experimental archaeological project. His goal? He wants to be mummified after his death using ancient Egyptian methods and displayed in a museum. What begins in the waiting room of the cold, bureaucratic Dr. Linde as a grotesque and morbidly funny joke gradually reveals the deeply moving drama of a desperate father fighting for one last chance.
In the second one-act play, we meet Frau Kranich. She is determined to sign a fatal contract out of revenge, thus drawing an irreversible line under the matter. But in the heated and highly manipulative verbal battle with the cool Dr. Fuchs, her hard facade crumbles – gradually revealing the true, painful core of her hatred: a profound, disappointed love.
Both parts were broadcast as radio plays by Polish Radio.
The second part was created for the festival in
Novy Scaz – premiered in Poland
and is now traveling in Poland.

REVIEWS
From a review:
Fred Apke's "Application of a Mummy" is a masterful tightrope walk between absurdist comedy and existential tragedy. With rapid-fire dialogue and pitch-black humor, the play leads the characters – and the audience – to the very limits of the human soul.
An evening at the theater that provokes with its quirkiness, makes you laugh, and unexpectedly hits you right in the heart at the end.
