ACTION

The Kaiserhof – a once-glamorous, now completely dilapidated country hotel – is cut off from the outside world by a relentless winter storm. Here, the world-famous clarinet virtuoso Simon "King" Jubal finds himself stranded after a devastating collapse on stage. But the real threat lurks not in the icy cold outside, but deep within him.

For Jubal, isolation marks the beginning of a desperate, almost ruthless struggle for his identity and his life's work. His art had always been his fortress, but now its foundation is crumbling: the death of a close friend and composer plunges him into a profound existential crisis. Unable to accept aging and his fading genius, he clings manically to his instrument. His fainting spells and feverish dreams become a battleground where he fights not only against physical failure but also against the painful truth of having completely forgotten how to live outside the stage.

This inner war is made more difficult by his companions: his secretary Nino, who, filled with envious admiration, is undermining Jubal's position, and the traumatized hotel owner Elvira, who seems like a reflection of his own escapism. When the boundaries of reality finally blur and a mysterious puppeteer enters the scene, Jubal must confront his darkest demons.

“King Jubal” is the psychological profile of an artist who fights until his last breath not to become a ghost of his own past.
